Quick start

From a new account to a workflow posting into TallyPrime. Most of this is done once.

Before you begin
In TallyPrime press F1 → Connectivity → act as Both. It is off by default, and nothing works without it.
1. Create an application
2 min

This is how your automation platform signs in to us.

  1. 1

    Open Applications → New application and name it.

  2. 2

    Choose your automation platform and paste the redirect URL from its guide.

  3. 3

    Copy the Client Secret now — it cannot be shown again.

2. Install the connector
3 min

On the computer where TallyPrime runs, download and double-click the connector — one file, no installer, no admin rights. It shows a 6-character pairing code.

3. Connect TallyPrime
2 min
  1. 1

    Open Connections → Connect TallyPrime.

  2. 2

    Enter the pairing code from the connector.

  3. 3

    Choose the company to automate.

One connection = one company. For a second company, add a second connection.
4. Authorize from your platform
2 min

In your platform, create a TallyPrime connection with the Client ID and Secret. You land on our approval screen: pick the TallyPrime connection, approve, done. The exact fields are in the guides for n8n, Zapier and Make.

5. Build a workflow
3 min

Add a TallyPrime action — Create Sales Invoice is the usual first one — and map the fields. Ledgers and items are read live from your company, so you pick real names. Run it once; the result appears under Usage.

Calling the API directly

No automation platform? Everything is plain REST — see Authentication for the token.

curl -X POST http://localhost:4173/api/v1/tally/sales_invoices.create \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer YOUR_ACCESS_TOKEN" \
  -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{
  "date": "2026-04-12",
  "customer": "Aurora Traders",
  "sales_ledger": "Sales - GST 18%",
  "invoice_number": "INV-1042",
  "items": [ { "item": "Widget A", "quantity": 10, "rate": 250 } ],
  "taxes": [
    { "tax_ledger": "CGST", "amount": 225 },
    { "tax_ledger": "SGST", "amount": 225 }
  ]
}'
