Installing the connector

The Windows app that lets your automations reach TallyPrime on your own computer.

What it is
One executable, no admin rights. It sits in the system tray and holds one outbound connection open.

Requirements

  • Windows 10 or later, 64-bit

  • TallyPrime running on the same computer

  • TallyPrime set to act as Both under F1 → Connectivity

  • An outbound internet connection

Turning on TallyPrime connectivity

This is the step people miss, and nothing works without it. In TallyPrime:

  1. 1

    Press F1 to open Help.

  2. 2

    Choose Settings, then Connectivity.

  3. 3

Set TallyPrime acts as to Both.

  4. 4

Leave the port at 9000 unless you have a reason to change it.

This only lets programs on that computer talk to Tally. Nothing is exposed to the internet.

Installing

  1. 1

Download the connector on the computer where TallyPrime runs.

  2. 2

Double-click it. Windows may show a SmartScreen notice for a program it has not seen often — choose More info, then Run anyway.

  3. 3

The window shows a 6-character pairing code, valid for five minutes.

  4. 4

In your dashboard, add a connection and enter that code, then choose the company.

Keeping it running

  • Starts with Windows, so automations survive a restart. You can switch that off.

  • Closing the window leaves it in the tray. Use Quit from the tray icon to stop it.

  • The computer must be on, and TallyPrime open, for an automation to reach it.

What it can and cannot do

Detail
It canSend a request to TallyPrime on that same computer, when an automation you built asks it to.
It cannotBrowse your files, read other applications, or act on its own initiative.
It neverSaves your accounting data on the computer, or sends it anywhere except between TallyPrime and this platform.
Its credentialIs locked to your Windows account on that computer. Copying the file to another computer or user does not work.

Using one installation for several connections

Add another connection from the dashboard; the connector shows a fresh pairing code. Nothing to install again.

Pausing a connection

In the connector, open ···, then Connections. On the connection, open its menu and choose Pause: for 1 hour, until tomorrow, or until you resume it. While it is paused, entries sent to it fail and are not saved later, and they do not count towards your plan. Choose Resume from the same menu to start again.

Letting support read the log

When you contact us, support can read the connector's recent log to see what went wrong. Amounts, GSTINs and passwords are hidden before anything leaves your computer. This is on by default; turn it off under View logs in the connector, or untick it when you install.
