Privacy
What data this service handles, and what it does not.
The short version
Your books stay in TallyPrime on your own computer. We hold the account you sign in with, the details you want on your invoices, and a record of which operations ran. We do not sell data and we do not use it for advertising.
Who is responsible for your data
Balancely. For anything about your data, including access, correction or deletion, write to support@localhost. That address also reaches the person responsible for handling privacy complaints.
What we collect
Account: your name, email address and a hash of your password. If you sign in with Google, the name and email Google gives us.
Billing details you enter: company or legal name, GSTIN and billing address. These are printed on your invoices.
Payment records from Razorpay: the payment reference, amount, status, and the method used — for a card, only its network and last four digits. We never receive the full card number, UPI PIN or bank credentials.
Connections: the TallyPrime company name, and the computer name, Windows user name and Windows version the connector reports when it is paired, and when it was paired.
Connector status: while the connector runs it reports its version, TallyPrime’s version, and whether TallyPrime is open, answering or waiting on a message (with that message’s window title). Only the latest report is kept, in memory, so your dashboard can show whether TallyPrime can be reached.
The connector’s log, only if you allow it: with “Let support read logs” on, our support team can read up to the last 400 lines of the connector’s log while helping you. Amounts, GSTINs and passwords are hidden on your computer before any line is sent, and the lines are not stored. The download from balancely.in asks during setup; the Microsoft Store edition keeps this off until you turn it on. You can change it at any time under Logs in the connector.
Activity: one record per operation — which action, whether it succeeded, how long it took, and a short summary such as the voucher number, amount and party name so you can recognise the run in your own feed.
Retry replies: TallyPrime’s answer to an entry, kept for 48 hours so a repeated request is answered without posting it twice.
Accounts entries waiting to be sent or that failed: the details you typed or imported, kept so you can fix and resend them. Deleted as soon as the entry is saved, and after 14 days for a failed entry.
Technical logs: request identifiers, IP address and timestamps, kept to investigate faults and abuse. Passwords, secrets and tokens are redacted before anything is written.
Cookies: only what is needed to keep you signed in and remember your settings. No advertising or tracking cookies.
What we do not collect
A copy of your books. Your ledgers, vouchers and reports stay in TallyPrime; we keep only the limited records listed above.
Card numbers, UPI PINs or net banking credentials. Those go to Razorpay, never to us.
Anything for advertising, profiling or sale to third parties.
On your computer
The connector keeps its settings, its sign-in credential sealed with Windows DPAPI, and a small log (about 1 MB at most) in your Windows profile.
Uninstalling the connector deletes them and disconnects that computer from your account.
If you install the connector from Microsoft Store, Microsoft installs and updates it. What the Store itself collects is covered by Microsoft’s privacy statement, not this policy.
Why we may use it
To provide the service you signed up for and to bill you for it.
To keep the service secure: rate limits, abuse detection and audit records.
To support you when you ask, and to tell you about things that affect your account.
To meet legal obligations, including keeping invoices for the period tax law requires.
How long we keep it
Activity records: 7, 15, 30 or 90 days depending on your plan, then deleted automatically.
Invoices and payment records: eight years, because tax law requires it.
Account, connections (including the computer and Windows user name) and applications: until you delete them, or until you delete your account.
Technical logs: a rolling window measured in weeks, not years.
Your rights
See what we hold about you, and get a copy.
Correct anything that is wrong — most of it you can edit yourself in your dashboard.
Delete your account, which removes your data except the records we must keep for tax law.
Complain to us first, so we can put it right; you may also complain to the relevant data protection authority.
Children
This is a service for businesses. It is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Changes to this policy
Any change is posted here with a new date at the top, and we email you before a material change takes effect. Questions go to support@localhost.
